Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Baby's eyes jitter

My 2 month old seems to have just started getting jittery eyes.  I noticed this first on Friday.  Her eyes move back and forth really really fast (jitter) for a second or two.  She's not focusing on anything when they jitter, it seems to be an involuntary movement.  I certainly cant move my eyeballs back and forth that fast.  I see it most often at diaper changes, when I'm looking at her constantly.  Has anyone else noticed this with their baby?

We have a dr appt tomorrow (for shots) and will ask then.

Re: Baby's eyes jitter

  • Not much help but, I had a friend in elementary school who could voluntarily make her eyes do that.

  • Ellie's eyes do. Not to worried though.
  • My son has done this twice since he was born.  So far nothing has become of it.  They did an eye exam when they were in the office- and his eyes looked great.  But, mention it to your pedi....it could be nystagmus (especially if it has been occurring regularly).  GL!
