I am having my first child and am currently researching and looking into car seats and strollers - i thought i wanted to get a snap n go stroller for the light weight, less space and easy for the infant seat, i was originally thinking i would go with a britax car seat which is only a seat not a travel system, but now i am researching and thinking i might go with the chicco cortina and the one i like is in a travel system - what are the pros and cons of the larger stroller - i wasn't orignally going to get it but now i am not sure if i should - ugh!?!?
Re: stroller question
I am personally not a fan of the travel system. The only travel systems that I've seen that I like are the new Peg Si system and the Teutonia system both out next year. Most travel systems are huge and bulky. I'd rather have a lightweight stroller than the beasts that are part of a system. So many stollers now have adapters that work with car seats so you have many more options than before.
For example the Baby Jogger city Mini or the Peg Si are only 3 - 4 lbs heavier than the snap and go, but are fully functional strollers as well.
I've spent many, many hours researching strollers/travel systems. And I've found that travel systems have very few pros beyond the storage space beneath the seat. They're heavy, bulky, and very cumbersome. Most of my mom friends said that they ditched their TS stroller after a short time because they're just such a pain.
A few months ago, I watched a poor girl in the Target parking lot trying to haul her giant TS stroller into her trunk. She had to set everything down and literally toss the thing into her trunk--and it appeared that it took up the entire trunk space.
After hours of comparing various options, we opted for the Baby Jogger City Mini with the carseat adaptor. It's compatible with several popular infant carseats, including Graco, Britax, Peg Perego, etc. The stroller itself is only 16 lbs and features an awesome one-hand fold. You can easily be holding a baby in one arm and put the stroller in the trunk with the other--with plenty of room for those Target shopping bags.
My issue with the Chicco is that I was constantly tripping over it. I had a friend who is also tall give me great advice and told me when trying out strollers to make sure I have lots of space and test them walking as if I were in a huge hurry, sure enough the wheels were too narrow and close for my stride.
I love my BOB Revolution because it can go anywhere and is so easy to maneuver however it is bulky. Everyone I know with a snap n go is very happy with it. I wouldn't trade anything for my BOB but I wouldn't have minded having had a snap n go as our light weight stroller.
