So what. Let her cry. She needs to know her behavior is unacceptable.

My MIL used to cry all the time to try and get her way until she learned that it doesn't work on us and now she doesn't pull that bs anymore.

I would seriously start stealing everything I could from a hotel so that it was totally overkill - shampoos, soaps, those paper lids for the cups, a Gideon's Bible, notepad, and one of those little signs about "if you want your towels laundered, please leave them on the floor. If you are going to reuse them, please hang them." blah blah blah.

Passive aggressive overkill, I say! ;-)

So what if MIL cries, she is being a royal pain. Not to mention rude. What if YOU cried because she made you feel like your home wasn't good enough. Two can play that game. My MIL and SIL are both big time manipulators. I learned to put the show back on their foot and they have sinced backed WAY off.
