Wow. Didn't a nurse check out how they put him in the carseat when the left the hospital? Also, it seems like that would really make him slump over. That is really dumb.

Didn't someone post something about this on Parenting not too long ago? I think it was their cousin or SIL or somone like that, who wasn't using the shoulder straps, either.
Apparently there are quite a few babies riding around completely unprotected.

I never want to be judgemental and realize with first time parents alot of stuff is new to them, but I just don't get how you wouldn't read how to strap the child correctly in the seat. I mean, isn't there a picture of a child buckled in on the box and on the instructions, on tv and in newspaper ads all over?!
Actually, they wouldn't even let us off the postpartum ward until they saw the baby strapped into his/her seat correctly, and only then would they take the baby lo-jack thingy off their leg.
How did they get out of the hospital?

a friend of mine was putting her baby in the carseat but leaving the straps super loose. the tight straps looked uncomfortable, she said. (she stopped doing it after another friend of mine ripped her a new one...)
Ok. She is pretty darn stupid for not using the straps. Has she not ever seen a baby in a infant carrier before? I mean on the damn box there is usually a picture of a baby in the seat. (most of the time)
But here is my issue that is sort of realated. I have seen several mothers with their baby buckled in so loosely that they might as well not have been using the sholder straps. IF they were ever in an accident the baby could easily fit through and be thrown out. When I do see this I do confront the mother. I dont care how mad they get or what they say back to me. That is a innocent precious baby that they are being careless about. So :P on them!
Well, our hospital did not check our car seat. But what kind of idiot doesn't know the basics of how a carseat works? I mean, how the eff did they figure out how to install it in their car? That's the part that scares me. If they didn't open the manual to see how the kid goes in the car seat, how could they have installed it correctly?

Re: This scares me... post on 0-3
Oh my...
Our hospital wouldn't let us leave without a carseat check.
That much ignorance would actually take effort.
Plus, posting it? She will be lucky if her computer doesn't catch fire.
