I had an eventful afternoon yesterday. I had my 39 week exam (3 cm, 90 percent effaced) and it ended with a big gush of blood. I was sure my water had broken, and the doctor sent me directly to L&D thinking my water had broken too. Bright red blood on the table--a puddle maybe 6 inches in diameter. I was shaking.
I got to L&D and they checked me again. More blood, probably the same amount. I had a thorough ultrasound--they saw no placenta issues. The red fluid also wasn't my water because they tested it and the ultrasound showed lots of fluid remaining around the baby.
When I went home, I went through a couple pads overnight, like a normal period--not terribly heavy but still seemed like a lot for just a cervix check. The bleeding has slowed down but not stopped. I went in to be checked again today because they said it sounded like a little too much blood, and they checked me again and sent me home.
My contractions have been consistently 7-8 minutes apart for 2 days, not very painful. Is this REALLY just bleeding from my cervix? It just seems so strange because I have never bled this much after exams. Just late pregnancy sensitivity? Any opinions? I'm supposed to go in again if it doesn't stop. I'm hoping I go into labor first--ready to get this show on the road (and typing this from atop the birth ball).
Sorry so long, and thanks in advance for any wisdom or advice.....and I realize this is probably an unanswerable question.
I am thankful every day for my miracle after infertility.
And thrilled to be pregnant again after FET!

I have had a some bright red bleeding but nothing like what you are saying. My OB tells me just to take it easy. Probably just to much walking in my case.
I hope yours means labor is on its way.
