Seeing tiny 'shooting stars' of light?

When I go to my doctors appointments, they usually ask me if there are any vision changes, blurry vision, etc.  I haven't experience any of it until today.  I was in the shower and saw very tiny bursts of light, almost like shooting stars or fireworks for about 15 seconds.

Anyone experience this?  I see the peri on Monday.  I am going to wait until then to call the doctor unless this happens again over the weekend.  Thanks for any insight.  I'm worried about Pre-E.

  • If you normally never seen those flutters before, then call your doctor to let them know.  They ask me that all the time ( I have pre-e), but I always answer no even though I do see small black flutters (but I always saw it before I even got pregnant occasionally).  Especially after rubbing my eyes, looking at something bright and then turning my eyes to something dark, etc...

  • My doctor said that if it only happens when I stand up or for a short time not to worry about it. If it happens and stays that way it is something to worry about.

  • I saw spots one afternoon in the beginning of the second tri.  I had to stop wearing my contacts for a while...apparently my eye shape had changed slightly.  I can finally wear them again, but wore glasses from about week 14-week 24.

Spots can also be due to blood pressure or blood sugar issues so you'll definitely want to check that out with your doctor.

  • Could be pre-e related, but it also could be you have low blood pressure.

  • I only see them after I throw up  :o(
  • I see them sometimes, too. I have high BP due to gestational hypertension, but no pre-e yet. I have been to scared to say this out loud for fear someone will think I'm NUTS......I'm glad to hear someone else is seeing these "sparks" of light!!! I only see them once here and there & they are not associated with any blurred vision, so I dont mention it.

  • Well my blood pressure has been good so far, but at my last appointment on Thursday it was 110/82 for the second reading.  The first reading was a little higher.  I'm on Procardia, which is supposed to lower BP, so I fear that my BP is actually creeping up.

I'm doing a 24 hour urine for Monday and getting some b/w done, so hopefully the results will be good.  Thanks for the responses.
