A spinoff from the spanking post

If you were spanked did both parents spank you or just one? It seems very common to have only one parent do the spanking..it was that way in DH's family (his dad did the spankings) and my friends family (though the mom did the spanking).

And yes I am avoiding work.

My dad did all the spanking, and with a weight lifting belt! Child abuse much....lol.

Both did the spanking, but it was so infrequent. I'm a quick learner.

I only remember being spanked by my mom, but I'm not sure.  

My "favorite" disciplining memory is when my babysitter bit me.  Awesome.

My dad never spanked me and my mom would get frusturated and say she might do it but she never did. She did send us to our rooms when we were misbehaving and that seemed to work pretty well.

My parents didn't spank, but my Aunt and Uncle did with my cousins.  My Uncle did all the spanking.

most of the disciplining?actually, parenting in general?came from my mom, who would basically grab whatever she could find and start hitting. My dad has only laid a hand on me once, and that's when I was being incredibly obnoxious as a teenager.

that said, I have an amazing, BFF relationship with my mom. She didn't know better with me.  the younger kids in my generation didn't get hit as much, if ever.

That's why I don't have much issue with people losing their tempers.  But the calm spanking thing (which I didn't hear about until I moved to america.  Is it a bible thing?) is creeeeepy to me.

My dad almost all the spanking. My mom would just back slap and throw things...lol. I have a much closer relationship to my mom than I do my dad.

I agree that the calm spanking thing seems much more sinister.

 

My parents only spanked a few times, and it was whoever happened to be around.

My dad was the spanker and he did it with a belt. My mom did spank occassionally. I'm equally close to both of them.
