False Positive with Dollar store test?

Has anyone had a false positive with a Dollar store test? 

I got a faint blue line yesterday with first morning urine.  Then I took 2 more tests later in the day (another dollar store and then a name brand) and both were negative.  Then today I took a First Response with first morning urine and negative.  I'm am so frustrated!!!  I'm on day 35 of my cycle but since my cycles can be anywhere from 24 - 45 days I don't know when to expect my period.

Blue dye tests tend to give more false positives than others, so it probably was just a false positive. I would go with the result from the First Response test you took this morning.

Ditto.  But hopefully it's just too early to tell yet!

My understanding is the dollar store ones are more sensitive, so they actually show a line for lower levels of the preg hormone (letters are escaping me right now). If the FR test was a Yes/No test, you might have some of the hormone, just not enough to get to the Yes threshhold, if that makes sense. I'm pretty sure that's what I learned back in my stick-peeing days.

I'd probably wait a day or two and take a FR test again in the morning. The hormone increases over time... the waiting sucks though.

I never had a false positive, but I've had a false negative before. (I know thats common)

Cool!  Mine wasn't a "+/-" test though.  I thought it was and was expecting to see the "-" part show up immediately.  Then I didn't and instead saw a very faint "l" line instead.  So I look at the box and realized it wasn't a "+/-" test like I usually get from there.  It was a blue dye test though.  *Sigh*  Guess I'll pee on another one tomorrow!

Thanks!  We're definitely hoping for a positive.    This was our first month trying.  I never got a positive OPK, my temps (from charting) are everywhere and DH has been out of town most of the month (except when we went on a trip to Baton Rouge) so I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

I do hope you get a positive, and I hope I didn't seem negative in my first response! I just know that the blue dye has been an issue with several of the girls on the Getting Pregnant board, but I hope that's not the case for you. Maybe you're just too early to get a positive with a First Response, since they all have different levels of HCG that they measure. Good luck!

Thanks!  You didn't seem negative.  But that really sucks that blue dye tests are giving false positives!  I'm testing tomorrow with a pink dye test.

Didn't know that about the blue dye, but from someone that took 9 dollar tree tests [out of 11 total], I never got a false positive. i also see a line. Good luck!!
