Lila as a nn for Lillian?

 Is that totally weird?

Before you tell me that Lila is a perfectly good name and doesn't need to be a nn for something - I know.  We just both prefer longer, more formal names with a shorter nn option, so we're just thinking about possibilities here.

Also, aside from Delilah, is there any logical name that would have Lila as a nickname?

I don't think it's totally weird, but I would think that Lil or  Lilly would be the more obvious nn for Lillian.

I like Lila as a nn but Lily would be more obvious.

I like the name Lila in general but she/you  will have to explain it to people. It would make me do a "huh?" Mostly because Lila is a separate name. (I get what you're saying but you did ask for opinions...)

No, I appreciate your feedback.  That's kind of what I'm wondering, if it's too much of a stretch... guess we'll have to think about it some more.

If it were pronounced Lilla then ok but Lie luh seems too much of a stretch.

My friend named her daughter Lilianna or Liliana but call her Lila. They wanted a formal name but call her Lila all the time.
