3rd Trimester

I can't reach the bottom of the washing machine.

I'm short. It's an oversized washer. I have an oversized belly. It is so hard! I have to practically jump to get the clothes out of the bottom of the washing machine. It drives my nesting instinct away when I have to work so hard just to wash some clothes. I need a step-stool!

Does anyone else have this problem?

  • I do!! I'm only 5'1" and add a big fat pregnant belly, it makes it hard! I was doing laundry the other day while my mom was visiting and she was like "what are you doing in there? working out?" because I was grunting and breathing so hard to get all the clothes out LOL

  • Yes.... I'm starting to feel so useless, like I can't do anything around the house anymore without it being this huge mission....
  • I have this problem with the washer and our kitchen sink because it's super deep.  To heck with the step-stool idea can't we just get away without doing the chores, lol

  • That's funny! I have a hard time getting my shoe's on!
  • Oh yea!  I too am only 5ft, so I have all the breathless grunting while trying to reach the bottom of the washer!  LOL!  And as for putting my shoes on, OMG, so hard!  Just doing anything anymore is hard!  LOL!

  • Yup! Tongs have been very helpful! Step-stool could be a bit dangerous!
  • We have front loaders...you would think these would be easier. Nope. They are really low to the ground so i have to literally get on my knees to reach into them and get clothes out. By the time i'm done, my knees are shot.
  • I can reach... but only with pain! My poor dh is having to help a lot with laundry :)
  • Yes, I've had to borrow my mother's step-stool so I can get things from the bottom of the washer. It's such a pain, but it's necessary.
  • Yup, I'm only 5'1" and have a hard time with the washer as well. And when I try to get stuff out the dryer I swear I'm going to fall in. This morning it took me so long to put my shoes on that DH had to tie them so I could leave on time!
  • My problem is the refrig -- ours is side by side and the refrig door is against the wall so it doesn't open all the way. I can no longer turn sideways to reach things in back. Tongue Tied

  • 5' even here. It's starting to get painful. I already have a step stool in the kitchen, and I'll probably be using it this weekend to do laundry.
  • I can't bend in DS' crib to give him a kiss goodnight Crying.  Luckily we have a FL washer so I can sit on the floor to dig stuff out.
  • yep and bending to get things out of the dryer is rough too.  i told hubby yesterday that my laundry days may be numbered-which is fine with me!!   he does a lot of laundry anyway.   just hard to stand side ways and try to reach in etc. :)
