Hi Ladies--
I'm due March 11th, and my baby sister is graduating from high school. She's the last one of us to do so. Anyway, after each one of us has graduated we take a big family trip somewhere. For her trip it's been decided that we're going to a nice resort in Cancun, Mexico. My question is, for a baby of three months of age, is it okay to travel out of the country like that? Would you do it, and have you heard anything from doctors?
I keep hearing conflicting things... like, "No way you don't want to do that..." or "That's crazy." Then I'm hearing stuff like, "Oh yeah! That's a great time to travel because the baby sleeps so often, I'd go for it!!"
If we go, I don't plan on leaving the resort grounds, and obviously I wouldn't be leaving him in the sun or anything like that. I've been vaccinated for the flu and H1N1 and I've heard this protects the baby for the six months until he can be vaccinated himself.
I just want some opinions. ![]()
Thanks in advance!! ![]()
Re: Question... 2nd Tri'er here!
No, I would not be attending the gathering. IMO it seems a little young to be going out and about in another country but everyone is different.
You, your DH and your pedi are the only ones that matter with this decision.
This. Honestly, I would hate to miss that trip because a Mexican vacation is just what I need right now, haha. I'd probably go.

Day Three
lol this is the thing. It will be at the very end of my maternity leave before I go back to work, too. End it with a bang, right? Not like I'll be out partying, but just being able to be there and relax will be nice.
My mom is an OB nurse, and she says that its good to travel young, and get them used to it. Its not like we're going to be tent camping or something. Its a five star hotel. lol. Plus, everyone keeps saying it only gets harder the older they get.
I don't have a pedi yet... anyone know of any good "ask the doctor" type website??

I was going to say this, but now I'm having second thoughts. Airplanes are breeding grounds for germs and just b/c you are vaccinated doesn't protect him from an infected passenger or crew member exposing your LO to it. In any case, definitely need to call a pedi and have this conversation!
I know a lot of people that have travelled by plane with babies even younger than 3 months...
