I'm looking for a new digital camera. I currently have an Olympus and I
like it but I think I'm ready to go with a new brand. What camera do
you have? Pros? Cons? Where did you get it?
My last camera was an Olympus SP-350. It worked well until the image sensor died (while I was on vacation) and the camera completely stopped working. I've heard this is a problem with them.
I upgraded with my new camera, a Canon G-10 (though they now have an 11). It's still a point-and-shoot, but it's got a lot of advanced features if you want to do more manual settings, plus you can add a flash. The image quality is phenomenal, super fast shutter speed, the videos are 10x better than my Olympus. I wish we'd had this one all along.

so are you looking for a P&S to carry in your bag or pocket?
we have (older one) Cannon Powershot s80 that takes awesome pics.. but we've had it 3 years, I've dropped it a few times, so the slide door to the lens is acting up. it's also a bit thicker... so we decided to get a new one.
I like cannon so I got a powershot sd1200 digital elph. I'm still getting used to it. I think it may be more sensitive to movement, so I have been messing around with the custom settings. There's one for "kids and pets" which seems to have a shorter shutter time and take better pics... but I feel like I need to adjust the settings for where I am more with this camera (the old one was fine if I left it on auto... but I could get some awesome shots playing with the settings). it is smaller, which is nice and what I wanted.
overall, both take good pics. I think the s80 took better pics. but the elph is nice for carrying around. it's so tiny I can slide it in my pocket when we're out some place that I don't want to carry a bag and I don't want the camera swinging on my wrist.
Friends have also raved about their nikon coolpix p&s cameras... I stuck with cannon b/c I know it, like it and it had better reviews online. but both have great reviews and the pics my friends post look awesome. I don't think you can go wrong with either cannon or nikon.

This is the camera I have now too. I did have a Canon Digital Elph, and I loved it (small, easy to use, easy to upload, great pics), but was looking for something that I could do more with. That's how I ended up with the G-10. It's not as big as a DSLR, but still has some of the features, and the pics are amazing on it.
I have a Canon G-10 that I LOVE. Love love love. I had an Olympus that I didn't like, so I went back to Canon, my second. I'll always buy Canons; they are so easy to use and have great features, like shooting in Sport mode, black and white, color swap, sepia, etc.
Canon just came out w/ the G-11, so the price probably came down on the G-10. The G-11 has a swing-out screen which I'm not a fan of.
EDIT: LOL!! I posted before I read the responses. The G-10 is a great camera! I wish the F stop had more options, but for a point and shoot, it really does take great pics. I don't do any post-processing of pictures.
