1st Trimester

Sharp Temp Drop

Good morning, ladies. Yesterday I got my BFP, but this morning I had a sharp temp drop below my cover line (no cramps or spotting, though).  Is there a veteran charter around who could take a look and let me know if I should be worried?  Thanks!

Re: Sharp Temp Drop

  • temps after your bfp are meaningless.  Bury the BBT.

  • Stop charting!  I got a temp drop after my bfp and then I decided not to temp anymore.
  • STOP CHARTING! After your BFP your temps will fluctuate quite a bit and it will only make you crazy.
  • That really does look like an AF drop. BUT, I have seen charts with drops like that at 14dpo and still be a BFP chart.

    Have you tested again?

Can you go to a doctor for comfirmation? It could be a progesterone issue...

This! Put it away and don't look back! Your temps mean nothing and as any charter knows, it's not one temp that dictates things, it's the general pattern of temps. Congrats on your bfp!

Steal my kids picture or pretend they are yours, I will find where you live and ship all of their dirty diapers to your doorstep. Promise. image

  • Thanks, everyone ... this IS making me crazy!  I'll test again tomorrow and if it is still positive I'll let it go.

Ditto. No need to drive yourself crazy.

I don't agree with this. My doctor said that many people temp throughout first tri and that while temps do fluctuate a great deal above the coverline, if they continuously drop below the coverline it can be a progesterone issue or a sign of a m/c. They aren't meaningless.

ETA: I'm not saying that one temp is an indicator of either of those two mentioned above, like a pp said it is the overall pattern of temps.

This. TCOYF also touches on this.
