Weird Nausea

So I'm 6.5 weeks and haven't been throwing up or anything, (although there were a few times I was close) but I've had the weirdest symptoms of nausea. Basically, I can't "think" about food. The smell doesn't bother me, and the taste doesn't bother me once it's in my mouth, but having to think about what to eat makes me nauseous.

So for example...the other day I woke up, felt okay, went to the kitchen and thought..."hmm what should I eat for breakfast...eggs? (stomach churns), oatmeal? (bit more nauseous), etc etc....the list went on...and everything I thought about made me want to hurl. Eventually I had to suck it up and eat something, and once I started eating it I was fine...but thinking about food makes me sick. I finally went to the store and bought all the foods that when I think about them, I don't feel nauseous. These included bananas (weird seeing as I usually don't like banans that much), yoghurt, and some protein bars. Then I bought the recommended saltines and ginger ale.

So for those of you who are having weird symptoms like me (or any)...here is what I found helps tremendously: Ginger ale and saltines, or any fizzy drink really. I quite like the Canada Dry Sparkling waters since I don't drink soda really. Chewing a minty gum...works like a charm, ginger chews (if you like ginger), and eating/snacking very often...and for me this is like every hour. As soon as I start to feel a little nauseous I'll munch on some crackers or chew some gum for a while. Also, as soon as you get up, drink some water and chew on some crackers. That helps too. Anyway! Just thought I would share in case any of you are experiencing this for the first time like I am :)

Re: Weird Nausea

  • I have weird nausea too!  I don't feel anything in my belly area that would cause me to have the dreaded morning sickness; however, I get this horrible gagging feeling (like something stuck in the back of my throat) that causes me to feel like something will happen - BLAH!  I also don't have any problems eating food or smelling it, but sometimes thinking about food isn't very comfortable.  I like to think about food that sounds really good then settle for whatever is in my kitchen!

  • I have the SAME EXACT problem!!! It is such a pain in the a$$!!!!!!!!!!!!  Takes me forever to try and figure things out - and my hubby gets so mad!!  I'm glad I'm not to only weird one ;-)

Good luck to you! ( and others) with this problem!  I sure hope it doesn't last the entire time! AAAAHHHHH!
