Two Under 2

3 under 2 - stroller ?

Baby #3 will be born in Feb so we probably won't be strolling the sidewalks of St Paul until she's a few months old but I'm torn.  My boys are BOYS and will need to be confined to a stroller for a good long while - let's just say they're always at a track meet.  SO - should I just figure out how to wear her while I push the boys around or find a used triple stroller to get them around the neighborhood, etc. ?

thoughts or experience?

Re: 3 under 2 - stroller ?

  • Ugh - I am facing the same challenge here.  I am thinking for at least the first 6 months the boys will go in the double stroller and the baby will be in a sling or the carseat carrier.  After that there is the Joovy Caboose Triple that has 2 seats and a sit and stand - I am hoping my oldest will be mature enough at 2 and a half to tolerate the sit and stand, but I don't know.

I have 2 single strollers and a double stroller, so the other option is just always having 2 adults and 2 strollers.  Which isn't that big a strech for me because I work, so most of the time when I am out with the kids, would be weekends so DH or my Mom will be available to come along.

I just watched the video for the Joovy Big Caboose (the double with the sit n stand on the back) and so wish I would have bought it.

Instead for my 1 yr old and newborn twins I bought a cheap graco duoglider from target.  I had one twin in the carseat in the front seat and my 1yr old in the back seat. (if you put the heavier child in the front like the manual says it is very hard to turn the stroller depending on his/her weight.) I then wore one of the twins in a infant carrier.  I was only able to do this until the babies were around 10lbs (which was a few months since they were only 4lbs 8.5oz each at birth)

After they babies got to heavy to "wear" I would have Landon walk on a harness and the twins ride in the stroller with their car seats.   I then bought at triple when the twins were around 8months old.  It was awesome to have 1 stroller for all 3 to sit in but got very heavy with all 3 in it as the stroller itself is over 30lbs.  Add in 3 kids and its a work out to push anywhere other than on level ground like a store/mall.

When the girls were around 18months I went back to a double when I bought a better model of the Graco DuoGlider.

To do it over again I wish I would have just bought the Joovy Big Caboose.  It would have been cheaper in the end although at the time I didnt want to spend that much on it.  It can hold 2 carseats and have the older child stand/sit on the back.

Just saw that your kids are the opposite of mine.  Twins first then a singleton.  I would still check out the Joovy Big Caboose.  The boys could take turns sitting/standing on the back and your new little one can ride on the front seat in the infant carrier.  (if you use a infant carrier for the back seat there isnt very much room for the older child to sit. Still roomy enough to stand though.)

  • I found a valco trimode twin online and we''re getting a jump seat. My daughter will be 16 months when the twins are born. It was highly recommended for my situation.?
