We love our house FOR NOW. Even moreso, though, we love our lot and neighborhood. We would love to knock down and rebuild in say 8-10 years, but I have no idea how those financials work out. Any insight?
Neighbors in our old 'hood did that. Two of them actually donated their houses to the fire department for training, and they got some kind of tax break.
I'm not sure how it all breaks down financially, but that's something to look into to help with the cost.
We would have considered it if we had stayed in Indiana. We had the perfect lot in a perfect 'hood and perfect location, but we would have outgrown the house pretty quickly.

I am like obsessively thinking about this now because I found a plan that I LOVE and it would fit on our lot perfectly (yes, I pulled our survey out last night and computed it).
