Two Under 2

Big difference in baby movement in 2(or more) pregnancies?

Hopefully I'm worrying for nothing, but it seems like this baby is moving significantly less than DD did in utero.  Anyone else have one that was really active *still is* and the other that is more mellow?  I see my doc tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be reassured then...   but you can help too! :-)

Re: Big difference in baby movement in 2(or more) pregnancies?

  • DD 2 didn't move as much as DD 1 did when I was pregnant...DD 1 is super active now and DD 2 is starting to be super wiggly and squirmy...
  • Mine was just the opposite...DD#2 moves ALL THE TIME and DD#1 was more mellow.  I'm sure it's nothing to worry about-every baby is different. GL at the Dr.

  • How pregnant are you??  I know I was thinking that #2 was not moving much and getting a little freaked out at first.  I think maybe because I was waiting and expecting to "feel him" in there this time, and the first time around I didn't really know what I was looking for.

Fast forward to the present and I am 30 weeks pregnant now......he is a wild man in my belly!!!!!!!!  I don't remember my DD even kicking around half as much and it wasn't that long ago.  Every baby is definately different!!

  • There is a huge difference in mine as well!  DD was a mover but this baby, not so much.  I also have an anterior placenta so that contributes to it.  I wish she would move just a little more though, I like it!!
  • DS#2 is moving a lot more than DS#1.  My dr told me that 2nd time moms tell her they can feel the baby move more.  But I'm sure everyone is different.

  • DC #2 moves all the TIME... I jokingly told DH that he is a spaz already:)

I remember DD moving but not as violently...

I also think I am more aware of the movement now and what is what..

  • Do you know where your placenta is?

DS #2 had an anterior placenta and I didn't feel anywhere near as much movement with him.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • Well, I don't want to scare you but if you are worried about the lack of movement make sure to go in and get monitored.  I went in for monitoring for lack of movement 3x.  The third time, at 35wk, 5d, I ended up having an emergency c/s because he had a non-reassuring NST, failed the acoustical stimulation test, and basically failed (scored a 2 out of 10) on the biophysical profile.  All I can say is that I'm glad I listened to my gut (I almost didn't go in for monitoring that 3rd time).  So to answer your question, yes DS2 was less active then DS1.

  • DS was MUCH more active than DD.  DS would kick/punch/jab and squirm around all the time, and DD was very calm.  She only kicked me once or twice, and everything else I would feel were just gentle movements.  I would go many hours at a time without feeling anything - made me worry sometimes!  But she's completely healthy, and generally a more calm and relaxed baby compared to how DS was.
