Skating+3.5 yrs olds=good or bad idea?

DS's class is having a skating party from 1-3 on Sunday (during naptime).  Will they have fun or just be frustrated?  DH and I would skate too/help them.  Thoughts?

  • Mine would not be up for that, he's way too cautious.
  • I think it would be hilarious and take lots of video. P is very agile, so I think he would be okay, but not really sure. It's all in the experience.

  • I am going to say ..bad idea!!

I went to a friends 6 yr old skate party and it was like really fun/funny for like an hour and then they started falling like flies. Lots of crying whining and all over chaos.

  • I think it will be fun with a parent.

    DS1 age 7, DD age 5 and DS2 born 4/3/12
  • I plan on taking my (almost) 3 yr sometime soon.  I think it'll be a lot of fun for him.

  • Good idea, but two hours is a long time.  Be prepared for tears and lots of breaks.
promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am
  • Depends. If each kid has an adult that can skate it would be fun. Otherwise it'll be a huge cry fest. DS takes skating lessons and it's a 2-1 ratio and there are still a lot of tears from kids that get too cold from parents not dressing them correctly!
  • DS has been skating since 2.5 years.  He has a helmet and does much better with his "bob" skates - the double blade skates that attach on to his shoes.  I got them at a hockey store for like $6.
