xmas gift for artist?

my brother is an artist, lives in san francisco. i'm not artsy at all. i would love to get him some art supplies or something but am certain i dont know exactly what he wants/needs. so i'm thinking of other things along those lines. maybe a membership to the SF MOMA? anything else like that? any suggestions of other places that an artist in SF might enjoy going, and/or where i could find art classes (he once took glass blowing lessons... he mostly does paint and some charcoal but all art interests him i think) for some sort of unique thing?

Do you know who any of his favorite artists are?  If so, you could get him a nice book or a framed print of his favorite artist's work.

My sister is an artist. I usually get her a gift certificate to an art supply store. Maybe you can find out where your brother likes to shop.

get him a gift card to Pearl Paint. All my artist friends could live in that store. There's one in San Francisco.
