Multiples

breastfeeding moms - nursing pillow question

MH and I went to a breastfeeding class at the hospital last night and it seems they really sweat the My Brest Friend (Twins) nursing pillow.  They raved about it in Multiples class as well.  But then again, they sell it in the breastfeeding store downstairs in the hospital, so I am not sure how much of that is related to trying to make a sale.

Anyway, have any of you used the My Brest Friend Twins nursing pillow?  Was it as good as they say it is?

Thanks!

Re: breastfeeding moms - nursing pillow question

  • That is what I use and I personally love it. It was recommended to me from a friend with twins and I cant thank her enough. I will say I did still use my boppy until about a week ago. They are too big for it now but in the beginning its plenty big to nurse 2.

  • I just checked out their website because I was excited about another option (the EZ 2 Nurse just isn't that inticing to me)... but the website said that the twins pillow won't be available to order until January 1st??

Did they stop making it for a while or something?  I'm kind of bummed because it looks nice and I like the color option, but my babies will already be here!

I didn't even notice that!  The instructor last night was talking about it like she had seen it and had friends who used it.  Weird.  Maybe the one available after January is a "new and improved" model?  I have no clue.

But, she went on and on about the regular My Brest Friend pillow, too (for non-twin moms).  She's a lactation consultant and said it's so much better than the Boppy for breatsfeeding because the surface is flat and the babies won't roll into you.

But good to know it isn't even available yet!

Okay... this is really weird!  I just went back to see what pattern options they have (a lot!) and went to the "twins plus pillow" page. NOW it says it will be available February 1st!   How in the world did it change by a month in a matter of 10 minutes?!?  I wish the EZ 2 Nurse came in so many cute patterns and colors...

  • WTH?  That is so weird!

So I just called the breastfeeding boutique at the hospital and asked about this.  The lady I spoke with said they carry a Double Blessings pillow, which I think is the EZ 2 Nurse one.  She said she knows nothing about the My Brest Friend Twins pillow.

I guess the instructor last night was smoking crack, which is especially weird because she also works at the boutique I just called.

    I am so confused now!

  • I bought a twin-size nursing pillow with the full intention of nursing my girls as long as possible.  Unfortunately my breasts had other ideas and I stopped producing milk around 6 weeks pp.  If you can, I would suggest waiting to buy the pillow until after your twins are born and your milk comes in.  I personally found it easier to nurse without the pillow.  I wish I had saved the money.  We tried to use it once before my milk stopped and it was so frustrating.  Now I am stuck with this perfectly clean barely used pillow still in original packaging that I can't seem to sell.

This is good advice.  Thank you.  I am definitely worried that I might not have success in the breastfeeding department and I would hate to waste money on the pillow (and those expensive pumps).

  • I'm a cheap breatfeeder and didn't want to buy stuff until I knew it was going to work.  I'm still nursing my girls using 2 boppy pillows.  I wrap them around my waist and tandem feed like that.  No problems yet.  I prefer to feed individually so they each get attention, but if I have to tandem feed this is what I do.  Just another thought for you.
  • Its funny, I thought the one I had is a Boppy, but I can't find any reference to a twin nursing pillow to Boppy by Googling. In any case, I HATED the EZ 2 Nurse one I originally got. I found it almost impossible to tandem nurse with it..the square corners meant that the babies were never in the right position, and since I am petite, it didn't fit snugly enough around my waist. The lactation consultant suggested the one I have now and its fantastic. I think its just a larger boppy. Its very comfortable and I can tandem nurse easily.
