Rocking Chair Dilemma

I'm a new mom with babies on the way SOON!  Currently, I'm on a terb pump to control preterm labor and on bed rest, so have been searching the internet relentlessly for a rocking chair that will work for us.  I really want a rocker for the nursery, but none seem to work for mommies of twins.  It's all the more difficult because I can't actually go into stores to sit in the chairs!  Does anyone have suggestions on what worked for you?

Re: Rocking Chair Dilemma

  • my advice- get a big, comfy rocking recliner - that way you can sleep in the nursery when needed (babies are sick, etc).  We got one for Griffin's room and have had to sleep in there many times in the past 2 years- and can do so comfortably... yet we still have a nice rocker to sit with him.

we got one for the twin's room, too.

  • We have my husband's old, loved LaZBoy leather rocker/recliner in the nursery.  Honestly, he uses it more than I do (I find it easier to deal with two babies on the bed).  But, it's a great chair that's had a ton of abuse and still looks great.  Not to mention it's easy to clean up spit-up and other messes!  :-)

  • We went with a rec from another twin mom to get a leather rocker/recliner.  Our babies are not here yet but we love it.  It is huge and comfy and large enough to sleep in, which I am sure that I will do soon and breastfeed in.  It was probably the most expensive thing we bought for their room, but it will eventually be moved to the living room as a regular piece of furniture.  We got an extra wide one and I can tell that even with two 2 year olds it will be comfy to sit it and read stories.  Love the fact that it is leather too, so it will be easy to clean.  GL!
  • Our futon has worked out well for us; or I suggest anything like a loveseat or bigger.  This way, both my husband and I can feed the babies while sitting together, or whomever is over and wants to help out.  Also, my 3yo can sit with me as well.
