Has anyone gotten their DC the Flu Vax and the H1N1 Vax at the same time?

My DD is scheduled for her regular flu shot this morning and as of today her doc had the H1N1 as well.  I've read that both are ok to give at the same time (both preservative free shots) but I don't know anyone that has actually done this.

I'm a little nervous.

  • They were 3 days apart and they were shots and not preservative free (they didn't have that kind).
  • Dr. Sears (who is a famous doc & the resident expert on vaccinations) recommends that any vaccinations in children be 2 weeks apart.  That way, you can tell what shot they are having a reaction to, if any.  If you do them the same day, or even within a couple days of one-another, you will have no idea.  Also, that is a lot for a little body (and immune system) to handle in one day.  I would not do it.  We cancelled DS's seasonal flu 2nd dose so he could get the swine flu vaccination last week.  Once he has the 2nd dose of the swine flu vaccination, he will get the booster for the seasonal flu- so in about 1 1/2 mos.

  • If our ped had the H1N1 vaccine in stock I would have gotten them at the same time.  She said it is safe to do so.
  • My 3yo did and had no issues.
