DD is not a boy

I'm just wondering- do moms of boys get the stranger comments about LO being a girl?

Today I got the "bald head must be boy" stranger comment while she was in the stroller.  Really?  I wouldn't dress a boy in puffy sleeves and girly polka dots (and pink shoes!).  I feel like unless G is dressed in a all pink as soon a someone sees a little blue they assume she is a boy.  Why do people even need to make a comment?

Re: DD is not a boy

  • We have a blue car seat and stroller so I know your pain!
  • Loading the player...
  • Yeah, I get it too. Usually it's more of a question... is it a boy or girl? Um, he is wearing all blue, and a little baseball cap, what do you think?!
  • Ethan has been called a girl twice.  Someone also told me he is so cute he could be a girl.  Thanks didn't know that boys weren't cute.

  • Yeah, Belle was called a boy by a friend that DH and I use to work with. She was in purple and had a pink blanket on her in the pink and brown stroller. I don't know how you could miss that she was a girl lol.

  • Justin has all (very clearly) boy-ish clothes. Not even 1 thing was gender neutral, I swear but for the 1st 6 weeks or so I got asked alot if he was a girl. He has really long eyelashes and a lot of curly hair.

  • Eve is VERY rarely called a boy, I guess cuz she has hair.. (and I usually have her in tremendous amounts of pink).. but it has happened.. I don't really get the logic of bald head=boy though.. I don't think with infants boys are any more likely to be bald than girls!

Be careful, the girls are going to love these features on your little guy when he's older!   lol   ;-)

I haven't had Ryan called a boy yet, just the generic - is it a boy or a girl question.

  • Yes, especially before his hair started coming in.

And....I was a baldie until 2 1/2.  My mom pierced my ears when I was 8 months and put me in a dress every day because she got tired of people calling me a boy...but they still did!

  • We get this all the time too.  I'm not the type to really dress DD in lots of pink, or frills.  Lots of stuff we have is gender neutral, I even have some boys clothes for her because I couldn't stand all of the pink.  But, we don't dress her in stuff with trucks and dinosaurs on it.

I can tell that people are confused sometimes when they approach us, they usually make vague comments like "look at you're blue eyes, chubby cheeks"...etc.

Now I understand why people strap those huge bows and flowers on their baby's bald head.  It cuts the confusion.

  • We go through this same thing! And it's so frustrating because I'm not a huge pink person at all, but almost feel forced to dress her that way so that people will know!
