Do I want an iPhone?

Maybe you ladies can help me decide. I think I want one, but I'm a little afraid of becoming addicted to it.

My current cell phone contract with Verizon has expired, so I can switch to AT&T now. Downside is a cell phone bill that's going to be a bit higher each month (currently it's about $40). Of course, the iPhone will be able to do a lot more than my current plain Jane cell phone.

I was kind of interested in getting a Kindle until I saw iPhone has an app for it, seems like just getting an iPhone might be the way to go there.

Thoughts?

  • Yes. I am really not in to all that techy stuff and I didn't thinkk it would be that great but I love it! I wanted to get a palm pilot or some kind of planner that would sync easily with my work computer and it dawned on me that phones probably do that now so I got the iphone. At first I couldn't ge it to sync with my work calendar even after I called apple but my work helpdesk figured it out and I love it now! It is awesome to easily check my planner on my phone and work emails...

  • The ONLY thing I hate about the iPhone is that it is HARD for me to text on it. I do not like the on-screen keyboard. My fat fingers apparently are not built for the iPhone. I need a REAL qwerty keyboard.

  • You won't regret it at all.  Doesn't mean you'll become addicted to it.  I hardly use mine for more than a phone/text, occasional email and random internet access/Google.  I do use a lot of apps. though.

ETA:  I've yet to purchase an apple product that I don't absolutely love.  Their products are far superior to any others I've ever handled.

  • Yes I love mine. But you know Verizon just got the Droid which is comparable I guess. You might look at both and see which you like better.

  • I would probably be just as happy with a black berry and I think the verizon network is much better.  I have an iphone, but don't use it for much really.  The google maps app is nice, the ipod part for pod cast, and facebook, but I think you can get all of those on blackberry too.  They end up being pretty close in price when it is all said and done, but the iphone is more up front.
  • Check out the droid from Verizon - we're currently with AT&T but are thinking of switching to Verizon and getting the droid over the iphone.

The droid has some things that are supposedly better than the iphone, although I am sure there are pluses to the iphone over the droid.  I do know that Verizon's network is supposed to be vastly superior.

I have a blackberry through AT&T right now.

  • I LOVE my iphone. ?I use it for everything. ?Also, some of the best pictures I have taken in the past year have been on it. ?It has tons of photo editing apps and I always have it with me. ?But seriously, takes pictures better then my 500 camera.
