Carpal Tunnel all of a sudden!?

I've had issues with both hands going numb for the past few months, especially when I sleep. But, I'm diabetic and have high blood pressure, so a bit of numbness and swelling is no biggie. Today, about 30 min. after I woke up and had been on the computer for a few min, my right hand suddenly began hurting! It's a bit numb from the wrist to the fingertips, and there is shooting pain on the top middle of the hand and on the bottom of the wrist. The pain is sooo bad!

Could carpal tunnel all of a sudden set in like that?

When pregnant - yes.  Especially if you are swollen.  I had it w/ my first and slept w/ those hand guards at night and it helped a lot.  This time I'm going to get acupuncture to help relieve the swelling and it can help w/ carpal tunnel.  Good luck, rest those wrists and drink a lot of water!

Yep. I get pain in my hands at night sometimes. I have never had anything like carpal tunnel before. Lots of women here complain of it being really bad to the point of needing braces, even if they didn't have it pre-pregnancy.

I was just talking to my doc about this Thursday. I have been waking up unable to open and close my left-I am right handed. The pain is so bad in the morning but gets better as the day goes on. I have never had any problems like this before. He said it will go away after delivery. So yeah, another thing to just deal with for 5 weeks,lol.

Yes.  I am a victim also.  The tips of some of my fingers are constantly numb and I also get pain in my hands throughout the day and night.  My doctor said it's normal towards the end of pregnancy and will go away after delivery.  Don't worry!  It'll get better!
