Who works on their feet all day?

I am on my feet all day long, just standing in one spot with very minimal movement.. (I'm a cashier at a grocery store.) Lately, I've been getting horrible back pain, and I wanted to know if those belly bands actually work and is it worth the money to get one? Do any of you ladies have one or know something better that will help with back pain while at work? Thank you!

  • I work at a preschool and my coworker used one and thought it was helpful. I'm to the point where I don't think it's worth it to bother, I only have a week of work left anyway. Try asking anyone if they have one you could borrow first that way you aren't wasting money on something that doesn't work for you.

  • Ugh I don't know how you can do it! I went to Target today and was so achey when I got home after only 2 hours. If you don't have one you could get an anti-fatigue mat. When I did have a standing job (pre-pregnancy) it helped me and my co-workers then.
  • Im a hairdresser so Im up and bending over people all day. My MW gave me a belt but I don't like it. She helped me put it on and it was really tight and pressed on my bladder (LO's head is pressing on my bladder enough as it is). She also told me the best way to put it on is to lay down.. which is stupid because I have to pee all the time and I'm NOT laying down on the bathroom floor to get the stupid thing on. IMO its not worth it. To help my back pain I'm addicted to my heating pad and baths.. I hope that helped..  GL

Trust me, it is HARD!! I want to quit everyday, but I just think of the money and it somehow gets me through, even when I feel like death at the end of my shift!

  • me, me, me! I am a restaurant general manager and I despise going into work everyday, all day. I just keep telling myself that I only have eleven working days left until maternity leave. Ugh!

  • I got one when I was about 7mo pregnant with DS and couldn't believe I had waited so long. It was a huge relief and I was HUGE with DS.

I also have a bad joint so I have trouble with my back in general. I also see my chiropractor regularly and will do at least once a week visits now. Today he taped the arches of my feet too, we'll see if that helps a bit. From what I've googled you may be able to do this yourself at home. Though I haven't seen any instructions similar to what he did yet. It's suppose to apply more support to the arches and help you determine if your shoes are providing enough support too.

If you do try it my chiro was clear about taking it off if you feel any pressure or swelling. Obvious not something you want to aggrevate in pregnancy.
