Twins measuring differently

We had our NT scan today. Both babies looked great and the MFM was happy with them. But one baby was measuring 13w2d and the other 14w1d. I am 13w5d.  Is it normal for them to measure differently? I am just worried about the one that is measuring behind. They were both measuring the same at my last u/s a week and a half ago.

    It's normal to measure differently, though if they get too far apart, that could be worrisome. I'm sure your MFM would have told you if it was an issue. My Baby A always measures slightly bigger/farther along than my Baby B.

    If you're concerned, give a call to follow up.

    ditto what the other post said... your docs will know when it's too much and there is reason to worry- otherwise it's fine.

    my boys always measured a few days apart. they were 2lbs apart at birth, and are 3lbs apart now.... but both were born big and healthy (Gray was 6lb 6oz, Gibby 7lb 15oz)

    I mentioned my concern to the MFM and she said they were measuring right where they should be and they were definitely not so different that she was concerned so i guess i should not worry, but you know how hard that is.

    Hi! My twins measured differently from day one. What the MFM should watch is for the difference to get larger as they grow. My twins started with a 20% difference in size, and were delivered at 32w1d  because the discordance had grown to 37%. It is normal for them to be different sizes. The important thing is to make sure that the smaller baby has a healthy placenta with good blood flow and has a healthy heart. Those seemed to be the two biggest concerns that my doctors had. They will probably watch them, and if the gap gets too big or starts to get bigger, they may have you come in more frequently for more scans and BPP's. Good luck to you!

    So far evertime I go one measures right on the day and the other is always a week ahead of schedule.

    Mine are measuring 3-4 days apart and the Peri is not concerned he said they grow at different rates.  Try not to worry, I know easier said than done.
