I had my 38 week appt yesterday, keep in mind i go to a very big office with many doctors, however, i always make my appt with the same guy even though he may not be the one delivering my baby. the ONE time i didnt make it with him they gave me a NP who gave me wrong information and created a very stressful situation... so anyway, yesterday my dr ordered a sono for me next week (my third this trimester, i love him hehe) to chekc her size because she was measuring 7 pounds 2 weeks ago, the problem is he was completely booked and so were the other drs, so they gave me the same idiot NP i had last time. I am seeing him today to give me my swine flu vaccine and im thinking about telling him im really s tressed about this, (Im up now b ecause its causing me anxiety and i cant sleep) I dont want her making the decission of if or when ill be induced, so i though i would ask him if he could order my sono today instead and go over her size and aplan with me today and ill just have her do my internal next week. DO you think im crazy, or does this make sense? I dont understand why they would even GIVE me a NP when im this close to delivering... *cries like a baby* I wanty my dr and i want him now!
Re: Is it just hormones? lol
I am sorry you had a negative experience with your nurse practitioner. I am also a nurse practitioner and just want to defend my colleagues and remind everyone that like every profession, you have good apples and bad apples.
Good luck!
yeah but in my opinion at 38 and 39 weeks they shoudl only give you appts with doctors since you are so close to labor, ya kow? Besides the fact that the one im seeing is a moron lol!
Why? It's not like you are going to be delivering in the exam room. I actually prefer one of the NPs over all of the OBs at my office. She knows her stuff and is way more thorough. I wish she could be the one to deliver LO. I can understand not wanting to see an idiot NP/OB, but it really doesn't make a difference who your appointment is with when it comes to the end or the beginning of your pregnancy. NPs can do almost everything a doctor can.... pretty much aside from deliver. That means it is expected that they have the same amount of knowledge as a doctor about the things they do... like exams and so forth.
Because she is not compitent... at 20 weeks i had a small placenta lake, she told me i had a "pool of blood in my placenta that may lead me to abruption and miscarriage" and walked out. After speaking to the sono tech i found out mine was barely measurable and my OB told me that the lake and abruption is in no way related and most pregnant women have placenta lakes and are never told about them because they dont affect anything. she is a moron and i will not have her making the decision as to when or if i will be induced early for her size
