Not because you will necessarily need it on your way home from the hosiptal or even at the hospital, but because you may end up needing to go somewhere the day after you get home...
DS had to go to the pdiatrician the day after we got home and in all the chaos of getting settled in for our first night at home with a newborn, it was something I didn't even think about until we were walking out the door the next day (late as you will be for everything you go to at first with your small child) and as I have my keys and purse in hand, my mom asked 'ok, where's his diaper bag??'. I just stood there like a deer in headlights - it was still in the closet with tags on it! We scrambled to get obvious stuff packed, but of course forgot a ton of somewhat essential stuff that would have been nice to have, like a nursing cover and pacifier!
Re: pack diaper bag before you leave for hospital
thanks I didn't even think of this. I have one diaper bag packed to go the hospital with clothes and a blanket but no essentials. I will be packing DH's diaper bag for the first trip out of the house so that we don't have to worry about it.
**puts on to-do list for tomorrow**
Thank you so much for this. I hadn't even thought about it.
