Just thinking

Its crazy to watch the Fort Hood tragedy unfold on T.V. and then see comercials about myforthood.com and other Fort Hood advertisements. I have never been this close to a tragedy it really makes me think. What if my brother was stationed there instead of being deployed in Korea... My heart goes out to all involved! Being pregnant I have already cried over my what ifs I can't even fathom what I would feel if it was more than a what if.

Sorry if I am beating a dead horse.

Re: Just thinking

  • i worry about everything like that. my hubby is in the military and i constantly think about things like that and now with this happening, it makes it worse. i've actually been treated for anxiety many times...won't take the meds during pregnancy though, so it's been a tough ride! not only do i worry about things like this, i worry about the pregnancy going well, LO being healthy, me being healthy, etc. it's never ending! lol

  • My uncle used to have have the same position on the same base as the shooter. It is so weird to think about. He still does the same job but in a different location.

My sister's BIL is stationed on Hood when not on one of his 3 tours in Iraq.

  • Not a dead horse at all!  My DH is deployed and I worry about him so much and it is easy to forget that things can happen here at home too.  It breaks my heart to know that some of the deceased probably just made it back home from a deployment and felt "safe" being back on US soil.  I remember how safe I felt on the military posts that we lived on, but I will definitely never think that way again.  My heart breaks for the ones involved.

i said that same thing today. we don't live on base, but i always feel safe whenever i am on base and wouldn't mind living on base. i've said i would feel much safer letting kids out to play and all that, but now i'm second guessing myself. it's horrible that this happened. and i agree...i can't imagine these poor people possibly just getting back from deployments and being shot on their own base. its so sad.

This is what I said to DH, what if my brother had come into Fort Hood from Korea... Thats where he wants to be stationed because its so close to home.

  • My BIL is stationed there and it is very scary!  He has 4 adorable children and it frightens me what would happen if he was gone.  It's sad cause he has been to Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia and never had any problems.  We weren't worried about him at all being in TX, but now, you just never know.
