sleep sack ?

does anyone make one where the baby's arms stay in?  less restrictive than a swaddle, but keeps them from being able to say, scratch their eyeballs out?

Re: sleep sack ?

  • Halo makes sleep sacks that swaddle the arms:

That's the only one I've seen that restricts the arms though.

  • i have seen those in the store but only in NB size.  we are trying to unswaddle her arms though.

i wonder what would happen if i just didn't stick her arms out of the armholes?

  • Actually that makes me nervous .. having a baby in a sleep sack but with arms inside.  Having the arms through the holes is what keeps it in place so it doesn't go up over baby's head or around their neck.  Can you put some kind of mittens on her?  Or just clip her nails as short as possible?  (I'm sure you've tried, of course.  Trying to clip Jack's nails is a joke - I'm lucky if I get two done at a time.  But I would not do a sleep sack with arms inside - just makes me nervous!)

  • it's not the scratching with fingernails--it's that she rubs and rubs on her eyes and that wakes her up.  hm.

i didn't think about it sliding up if i didn't stick her arms out.  you are totally right and i will scratch that thought!!  lol at unintended pun

    thanks!

  • We actually didn't put DS's arms through the arm holes when we were trying to unswaddle - and it worked great!  The sleep sack was not very big on him (his feet were very near the bottom), so it couldn't have gone up over his head.  If he lifted his arms up, they would come out of the holes though, since we did nothing to cover up the holes.  I was ok with that though - it made me feel better that if he rolled or something, he would be able to get his arms out.  A company in NZ also makes a sleep sack without arm holes -  www.pekemoe.co.nz

It kind of looks like a big pillowcase with the head cut out.  I am not sure how they work, but I saw them on line when I was researching unswaddling - we never used it, and they are a bit expensive!  GL!

  • I don't know if she'd fit in the NB and I'm not sure if there are sleep sacks with a swaddle in bigger sizes (I hope!!!), but we use them and since it velcros you can adjust how tight the swaddle is. During the day I make it tight at top so he can't get his hands to his face but leave it loose on the bottom so he can move them around a little bit.
  • I agree with lucy, I wouldn't put their arms in....but that is jsut me. i would go crazy.  we used the swaddle halo one but it was only NB.  I use the halo ones now.

i am so bad a cutting nails, but I always use a nail file.

sounds like that isn't hte issue though.
