I just took TV away from dd all together last Sat. She was totally addicted to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Even though I limited how much she watched she pitched fits all day long wanting to see it again and again. And when it's on, she sits in front of the TV and doesn't get up. She will laugh with Mickey and interact with him, the show isn't all bad...but it was getting to be too much.
Needless to say it's been a tiring week for me but honestly, dd is so much better off. She's happier, she plays better, she plays on her own more etc. We've cut back on SO many of the tantrums. Now today I can barely keep my eyes open and being pg it's hard to fight exhaustion so I put on one Sesame St for her and she handled it very well when I turned it off. I was so proud!!
So looks like we're going to just have to severely limit what and how much she watches. Some kids will hardly pay attention to it and will play but not my kid so it had to be done.
You will honestly be so much happier that you did this. We used to have the tv on all day long but now I limit it. I have it on in the morning but then it goes off right before breakfast. Then I will turn it on again while I make dinner and turn it off while we eat. They might get to watch another show before bed but usually we read books or play. I started this about 2-3 weeks ago and I've noticed such a difference in their behavior. It was really worth it to me.
Re: Okay-TV is off for the day-wish me luck
