I'm trying to decide what I want for Christmas. I did want a sewing machine, but my yarn addiction is already out of control. I don't need to throw in a fabric addiction on top of that.

You take my ovaries, I take your yarns.
Re: If you have a Kindle, tell me about it.
Pros: Love my Kindle. I don't miss real books at all. Most books are 9.99 on the Kindle which is cheaper than buying real books. I've bought ones for 7.99 before also. I really do love it. So convenient.
Cons: they don't have all books. For example, the didn't have Time Traveler's Wife! That is a pretty well known book and I had to buy it. That is the only time I have ever come across that though. Although it is cheaper to buy a Kindle book than a normal book I was a library goer before and it is obviously more expensive than the library.
If you have any specific questions let me know.
It is an attachment that goes everywhere I go. Seriously, it's one of the main reasons I'm not here as much anymore. I've read more books in the past 3 months that I've had it than I have in the past three years. It's super light, portable, easy to download books wirelessly from Amazon, books are WAY cheaper downloaded, wastes less (no) paper, has fabulous little leather covers to protect it, is way faster than reading hardback or paperback books. I could go on and on. LOVE my Kindle!
I also love my sewing machine and fabric! But if I was going to get a new sewing machine...I'd want a mac daddy one that also did embroidery and monogramming.
I am actually trying to decide between a Kindle and an I Pod touch for Christmas...so you mean I can get the IPod touch and download books/mgazines onto it just like the Kindle?? Is it a pain to read on it since it is so much smaller?
Yep! I'm in love with my iTouch. In.LOVE.
The actual font isn't any smaller than a normal book (just less words per page) and I haven't had any issues reading on it. The pages turn with the touch of a finger, so I don't even notice that I'm "turning the page" more often.
I think I've read close to 10 books on it since I got it in May.
Another bonus -- I can download (FREE!) apps for DS to play and they keep him busy and quiet when we're out and about and I need him occupied. I even downloaded a couple episodes of Curious George.
I adore my Kindle. Dh got it for me last year and I was a little hesitant to give up my books, but I've never looked back.
Huge pros:
You can order samples of most books before purchasing them. That means they send you the first few chapters for free. This lets you decide if you like the subject matter, writing style, etc before you actually spend the money to buy the book. And if you're an avid reader like me, it keeps you from buying books that you've already read and forgotten you read...it takes 1-2 chapters for me to remember sometimes
Books are cheaper than purchasing in store.
Books can be ordered from ANYWHERE. I've ordered books from the crapper, while driving down the road, in a restaurant, on the beach, etc. You don't run out and then wish you had another book with you.
Saves your place in the book so you don't have to flip around to find out where you left off.
Great battery life if you keep the wireless off except when ordering books.
Selection of authors available that haven't made it to print. You get to read Indie authors that put their books out there for cheap (or free) to attract attention, get reviews and hopefully land a publisher. Often these authors will even participate in the amazon forums or discussions about their books. Most seem very cool and even recommend other similar authors.
Cons (small ones):
Doesn't come with a cover or a book light - buy them - you'll need them both
