My friend has offered to throw a shower, which is awesome! But she's asking me if Dec 20th is a good date. I was trying to steer her towards Dec 6th in case the invitees travel out of town for Christmas, but she keeps leaning back towards Dec 20th.
Do I just go with the flow and agree to Dec 20th? Or do I stick to my guns and ask for Dec 6th? Do I somehow try to find out if my invitees are going to be traveling or not? That would be weird, right?
Re: Dec 6th vs 20th
Oh, tough position!!! Definitely don't try to find out if people are traveling...if only a few are and you end up doing it on the 20th anyway, they might feel slighted, like you knew they couldn't come and decided to do it then anyway.
My advice is to tell your friend that some of your friends will be traveling that weekend and that you would prefer the 6th, but of course it is up to her.
Good luck!!
Even if they are not traveling, you are talking the last shopping weekend before Christmas, hustle and bustle to get things done etc.
Have you considered a compromise and having the shower in January? Maybe she needs more then just 4 weeks to set it up?
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Good point about the 20th being the last shopping weekend. I hadn't even thought about that angle. Definitely something to consider.
Jan is certainly an option. I guess with twins I'm 1/2 expecting to be on bed-rest by then though, which is why we were targeting Dec. But maybe waiting until Jan is a better option.
My sister was pregnant with twins and she never needed bed rest (no other issues with her pregnancy). I am pregnant with a singleton and was on bed rest since week 28. I got permission to attend my shower, sitting down. It was this past weekend at 32 weeks.
Good luck!
