Bunk bed

Are there any bunkbeds for age 4 and 2 or shorter bunkbed sets that arent as tall?  TiA

Re: Bunk bed

  • What about a trundle bed?
  • Or you could separate the bunks until the oldest is at least 6 and then bunk them.

  • We just got a trundle bed for our 3 year old and 1.5 year old.  The top "bunk" is about waist height and we just pull the bottom out when its time for bed.  The only downside is that the bottom bed is a little smaller than a twin (so it fits under the top bed) and it drives me nuts that the sheets don't fit right.

  • I got bunk beds w/ a trundle...so DD#2 was on the trundle until DD#1 was ready for the top bunk.  It worked out great but it was more expensive of course.  But to answer your question--YES--there are bunks w/ different heights...IKEA has a low bunk bed I believe.

  • We need to move Bennett into Evan's room, but there isn't space for two twin beds.  So... after a bit of debate we got him a low loft bed.  It's not as high as a regular bunk bed, but it's still elevated and has a ladder.  Bennett's mattress will go directly on the floor underneath Evan's bed.  It actually looks nice and not nearly as ghetto as I thought it might (to have a mattress on the floor).  We're hoping to move to a bigger house within the next year, and at that point we'll buy Bennett his own twin bed.

We thought about the trundle, but those are pretty expensive for something we'd only need for a year or two.  I also don't think my boys would sleep well right next to each other like they'd be in that set-up.

You can see the low loft bed we bought at www.maxtrixkids.com.
