  • I'm new here and saw your post. I had a myomectomy to remove 7 fibroids. Got pg 5 mos later naturally.

  • thank you so much  for answering!  How big was your incision?  When did they tell you you could start trying?  Was your surgery outpatient? Are you now considered high risk because of the myomectomy?

They told me the incision would be about 2 inches in size and there would  be a minimum 4 week recovery.  They also said I could try after 2 cycles.

Thanks so much for your help and congratulations on your baby!

  • I hope you don't mind  me jumping in here.  My good friend had 2 myomectomies and she was told that it wouldn't mean much in terms of her pregnancy.  She wouldn't be high risk, but would have to have a C/S because of the size ofher incisions.

    Good luck!

No problem! I'm happy to answer any questions you have :)

How big was your incision? I'm not sure. I had a previous bikini line incision from my emerg c/s with DS so the doc pretty much followed the same start and end point but cut a little higher. So maybe it's 2 or 3 inches? I like to joke and say I now have an "open mouth" smiley face! LOL! So with my upcoming c/s, they should draw in some teeth!!!!!

When did they tell you you could start trying? They told kme to start trying 3 months after I hit 6 weeks recovery so about 4 1/2 months. We got pg that first month out.

Was your surgery outpatient? No. I was in surgery for 3 hours and in the hospital for 4 days. I would have left on day 3 but developed a slight fever. Once I was able to get my lungs working properly again, my fever went down and I went home

Are you now considered high risk because of the myomectomy? You know, I can't get either of my current docs (OB or MFM) to say that the myo is the reason I am High risk. They say I'm high risk b/c I went into early labor last time. They can't even explain why my cervix is shortening.

I wish you all the best with your myo surgery and future TTC!

  • I had several fibroids removed in Feb. I was told I could start tttc the next cycle, but I was still having effects from the anethesia and decided to wait. We started ttc in May (3 months after myo) with injectibles and IUIs (b/c of a hormone issue). I got pg the 1st month ttc and am 26 weeks pg with twins. Because of the myo, I must have a c-section. Because of the myo + twins, I have to deliver at 36 weeks.

I am high risk for many reasons, but primarily b/c of the myo. I had a 9cm intramural fibroid removed and several smaller ones. My external incision site looks like a c-section scar...about 6 inches. It was in patient and I stayed in the hospital for 3 days.

There are specific things my OB and MFM are concerned about, but keep in mind, I had a huge fibroid and several incisions and am pg with twins. I don't want to worry you with them as my situation was completely different than yours. you can page me if you'd like, but its better to talk to your doc about possible problems if you get pg. GL!!!
