I'm on the fence about CD'ing. I found the few I do have to be easy to use(fuzzy bunz pockets), but the little bit of research I've done so far, I'm a little overwhelmed with all the choices! So I have some questions...
1. What kind do you use?
2. How many do you have (that you're currently using)?
3. How often do you do laundry for them?
4. Do you have to do anything special for overnight?
TIA!
Re: CD questions
1 & 2. We started with 30 infant prefolds and 6 pro-wrap classic covers, but DS grew out of them pretty quickly. Now we use 27 AIO pocket diapers: 21 Bum Genius 3.0s and 6 Happy Heineys. I wish I had spent the extra buck or two each on more BGs rather than the HHs, because the HH snaps are a PIA and they leak a lot more.
3. Twice a week
4. I "triple-stuff" a BG: infant insert, regular insert and an infant prefold. Lasts 10 - 12 hours without leaks or diaper rash.
1. Mostly BG 3.0's, a few BG sized AIO's, a few Nana's Bottoms AIO (they're less expensive and trim but take forever to dry). I think BG 3.0's are our favorites right now. I was using prefolds and Thirsties covers until about a month-two ago. He was growing out of the prefolds that we have and he was always wanting to roll over and crawl off during diaper changes so I gave PF's a rest. I miss using them b/c we had a ton and I always used them at home so I saved his BG's for night time and daycare.
2. 8 BG 3.0's, 4 BG size L AIO's, 3 Nana's bottoms size Med-Long AIO, and 3 Good Mama's one-sized fitteds.
3. I wash twice a week but if we go back to using cloth at night then I'll have to buy more or wash more often.
4. We took a break from cloth at night b/c he was suddenly pooping at night & we couldn't tell if he had gone or not b/c the diaper was HUGELY stuffed (couldn't smell it either). I hated checking b/c it woke him up even more than he already was. We used to use a BG 3.0 with the regular insert, a newborn insert, and a hemp insert for nighttime. It held up about 11 hours w/o leaks or rash. We just talked about going back to cloth at night yesterday since he's over the phase he was going through.
I know all the CD info out there can be overwhelming. Once you find what you like and what works for you though, it becomes simple. Good luck!

Well it's good that you're doing the research! I'd also recommend lurking on the Eco-Friendly Family board, as there are many CD questions and answers over there-- or you can ask the questions yourself.
1. We use BG 3.0 (one-size pockets), BG Organic AIO (also one-size), Rumparooz (one-size pockets with snaps), and Blueberry (one-size pocket with snaps).
2. I think we have about 22-24. We use them full-time.
3. I do the laundry every other day. It might seem like a lot, but it is the easiest laundry there is. I can stuff the diapers (since they're pockets, they need stuffed) while J is playing next to me on the floor.
4. Since we use pockets, I can adjust the absorbency for nighttime. I use a BG 3.0 with the big microfiber insert, and two hemp inserts. If you'd like more info on the hemp, I can give it to you-- just didn't want to overwhelm you. J doesn't wake up at night anymore, so he goes a full 12-13 hours with that diaper on with no leaks.
GL! Let us know if you have any more questions!
1. We actually use right now: Mother-Ease One Size Fitteds, Prefolds, Flats, Thirsties covers and a few wool covers, a few bumGenius pockets stuffed with flats or prefolds for grandparents/diaper bag
2. More than we need. Those are the diapers we're actually using right now, but we have a lot more that I need to sell or get rid of when I get around to it.
3. Every 2-4 days depending how busy I am with other things.
4. We just make sure we use the more absorbent diapers, but our kids aren't unbearably wet at night. If you need to do more, it will depend entirely on the baby and how much they wet at night.
1. What kind do you use?
When Lyla was really little (0-4 months), we used mostly prefolds, KissaLuv 0s and Thirsties covers. Then we started using Bumgenius 3.0, then we switched over to the Bumgenius Organic AIOs. Love love love all the BGs... they're really convenient and not super bulky. The AIOs are slimmest and easiest (no stuffing or unstuffing required), but do take a loooong time to dry.
2. How many do you have (that you're currently using)?
We have about 20 organic AIOs, and 20 3.0s.
3. How often do you do laundry for them?
Every 2-3 days, but I always have plenty to spare... they just tend to get smelly before then.
4. Do you have to do anything special for overnight?
Lyla is an awful sleeper, so we use Seventh Generation disposables for overnight to keep her as dry as possible (which hasn't really helped the sleep, unfortunately). We also use them for traveling and other times when it's easier to use a sposie. Highly recommended.
1. What kind do you use? GMD (Green Mountain Diapers) cloth-eez prefolds, and a variety of covers. My favorites: Bummies Super Whisper Wrap, Bummes Super Bright, and Thirsties.
2. How many do you have (that you're currently using)? 3 dozen of whatever size P is/was in at the time.
3. How often do you do laundry for them? Diapers: 1-2 times/week. Covers: Whenever it/they get dirty (usually one cover/day; I handwash those in the bathroom sink).
4. Do you have to do anything special for overnight? I just add a hemp doubler for extra absorbency.
HTH!!
