  • WTH is wrong with jerky? It's just dried meat.....I'll be interested to see what other people have heard.

  • I don't why you wouldn't be able to. Its meat. Can you eat venison? If you can, then you can eat jerky too I would think.
  • I have no clue why you wouldnt be able to eat it. Just make sure its thorougly dried would be my only concern.
  • I havent heard anything saying not to!!
  • I can't imagine why not?  It's smoked, cured meat, right?  I would think that would be different than cured raw meat, like some fish.  I mean, you might swell up if there's high sodium content, but I can't think of a reason to not eat it.
  • Oh I have been snacking on deer jerky and deer sticks this entire pregnancy. I have never heard anything about not eating it. I say have some!

  • I had posted something about making the first batch a few weeks ago and a fellow bumpie said she loved jerky and couldnt wait to be able to eat it. She said her doc. office told her it was on the no no list at her first visit and the nurse said it was deff. bad for you! I think im about to go eat some!

  • I just googled it, and I didn't find anything saying not to. As long as its dried completely there's no problem with eating it.
  • Although I haven't had any jerky I haven't been told I couldn't have it, if I was given a chance to have some I would be.
  • I'm of the mind that you can pretty much eat everything while pregnant, but you must just be sure it is super fresh.  If I lived in Japan and could assure that my sushi had just jumped out of the sea, I'd be all over a spicy tuna roll.  OMG, a spicy tuna roll sounds SO good.

    Enjoy your jerky!

  • I think it would be fine.
  • I'm not the one to ask - I ate blue cheese AND a medium rare beef tenderloin last night.  I'm DONE.  LOL.
  • I know that I've read somewhere something about not eating dried meats during pregnancy, but I've been eating beef jerky my entire pregnancy. Not sure that deer jerky would be any different.
  • Eat what you want!  Other people's advice not to eat this and that is just ridiculous.  Food that is not handled properly has risks of contamination and/or spoiling.  Period.  If it doesn't have that risk then it probably isn't real food and has no nutritional value.

  • LOL you can eat jerky!

When I was on bedrest my dr. put me on a very high protein diet and I seriously ate a pound of jerky a week. It was high in protein and low in fat!

BTW I am sooooooooo jealous  you  have deer jerky around where you live. I never can find it and it is so good, and when I do find it they want almost $20 for a bag with just a few pieces. :(
