3rd Trimester

For those of you getting H1N1

Just wanted to let you know, we had a local H1N1 vaccination a few days ago and I went in the middle of the weekday (as my sister suggested) and the line was not bad at all!  It's pretty much pregnant women and people with young children, so if you can go while most children are at school and mothers are at work, do it!!!  They were extremely organized here too, so the line wasn't even as bad as it looked!

I just wanted to put that out there because I was thinking about not going because I am supposed to be on bed rest and I didn't think I could take standing in line for hours as it was.  In and out in under half an hour!  Just thought I'd put it out there in case anyone else was afraid of the long lines!

Re: For those of you getting H1N1

  • i really don't want to get it or the flu shot but when i asked my doc if i should get it and he knows i'm a teacher, he gave me the craziest look.

there haven't been any close clinics that i've heard of that are offering it. is there a website where i can search where the vaccine will be offered? TIA

  • google your local health departments, then call the numbers.  Thats how I found mine.  I had to go to a health dept 20 min away, but it was the only one that had any (out of the 12 health depts I called)

  • I just got mine today and the line wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. I got there right at 1pm when it was starting and there was probably already at least 100 people there. They seemed fairly organized and calm, until I got inside the building...then it was chaos! I'm sorry, I know kids hate shots...but I thought I was going to go crazy standing in that line hearing kids screaming and crying that were getting shots, then the ones in line started crying because they heard the other kids...glad its done with. Wasn't too painful, burned a little. We'll see if its sore or anything.

Also, I agree...call your health department. I'm a military wife, so I assumed they would get them on base and was even told they were supposed to, but when I called into immunizations their recording referred me to the health department who was the one doing the free clinics today.

  • i got to make an appoinment when i got mine.  so no waiting other than the clinic waiting room!

See if you have a US Healthworks near you. I got mine at a clinic in Pomona near Cal Poly and only waited about 20 minutes.

  • Wow, I got my shot today at my OB office, took all of 2 seconds. I also got my first taste of sciatic nerve pain today and could not imagine waiting in a long line. Arent all OB offices offering the H1N1 shot? It took a little while to get in but I'd rather wait for them than stand in a looong line. Good luck to everyone who hasnt gotten theirs!
