Need a pediatrician

I live right in Boston (Beacon Hill) and am trying to find a good pediatrician.  I am not sure how to go about finding one.  Is there a local webpage that anyone knows about lists links to different practices?  Or does someone have one they really like that they want to recommend?  Thanks in advance!

  • A good start would be contacting your insurance to find out which pediatricians are covered in your plan. You can then do additional research from there. Good luck!

  • Longwood Pediatrics is supposed to be the best. They are right on Longwood Avenue near Children's Hospital (where I work :)). HTH!
  • When we had our DS my OB gave us a list of recommendations.  We chose one from the list and have been very happy with our choice. Check with your OB.

  • Thanks ladies, I appreciate your input.  I did ask my OB and of course they said, "oh just look around, etc."  I have heard good things about Longwood Pediatrics and also Harvard Vanguard which I think is over near Kenmore.  I will continue to check places out.  Thanks again!

  • I happen to work at MGH which would be convenient if you're in Beacon Hill.  I know several very good pediatricians (I'm a pediatric subspecialist) and will probably go there.  However, there can be something nice about a smaller office where the receptionists, nurses know you.  At the same time, the convenience of being able to get bloodwork, xrays right on the same floor in Yawkey is a nice thing and the practitioners tend to be very evidence-based with easy access to specialists which is important to me.
