So are dollhouses this year's play kitchen?

I've been pretty much set on getting DD a dollhouse (it is the only toy she's really ever actually asked for when you ask her what she wants for xmas).

We got a play kitchen for her a couple years ago and it seems that was the hot item on this board last year.  So...are dollhouses the "thing to get" this year? 

If you are getting one, do share which one!  I want one that will "grow with" DD but also doesn't break the bank.

We are going to ToysRus tonight to get the girls each a doll house.  We are buying the Loving Family doll house from Fisher Price.  They have a sale/special that when you buy it you get the $22 van for free.  Last week or the week before they had all the rooms and accessories buy one get one free.   We were not able to go.  Plus it was only 1 free one per family.  But my mom was going to buy one,I was going to buy one and my gma was going to buy one.

We got our dd a dollhouse last year, and she still loves it.  She has the FP Loving Family one.  It is very affordable, and what I love most is that it folds up so I can stick it in her closet when I am sick of picking up the pieces.

Check TRU for one of the special collections that includes the house and several of the room sets.  It's way cheaper that way.

I am buying my girls one this year...they already have a FP My 1st Dollhouse one & a Calico Critters one but I am gonna buy another bigger all-in-one dollhouse this year.  As much as I love the wooden ones, I think my girls will really like having a more "girly" realistic looking one.  I also want one where I can buy all the furniture & accessories too.  So at this point I will either buy a FP Loving Family one or possibly a Barbie Dream House.  I think the Barbie may have to wait though since I just found a giant box of my old Barbies that will keep them occupied for months & they are so huge.  I hope there is an awesome one out there I am missing, but I've looked & don't see much else my girls would like more than the FP one.

My parents are getting DD the FP Loving Family Grand dollhouse. She'll love it and her brother may even like it too!

Oh & I'll add...I really would choose the Playmobil one out of all of them...but my girls already have like 4 Playmobil themes (Zoo, Pirate, Knights, Fairies) & I don't want to start in on yet another one.  They are great though & I super puffy heart Playmobil!

Coming from someone who just bought her DD three pairs of "boys" Cars socks, absolutely NOT!  (Which is exactly why I didn't mention son or daughter in my OP.    )

They have awesome treehouses as a boy alternative to dollhouses.  I totally want one for me!
