pumping question

For those who pump exclusively, which larger-volume storage bags/bottles do you prefer and why? Also, which at-home pump would you recommend?

Right now I am pumping exclusively into smaller volume containers with a hospital-grade pump for my NICU preemie, but I will eventually transition to a retail pump and need larger containers. Any recs are appreciated. Thanks!

Re: pumping question

  • I have the Medela Freestyle pump and love it.  I started out renting a pump from the hospital (the Medela Symphony) before purchasing one.  I was concerned that I wouldn't get as much milk with the Freestyle, but I do.  Also, I just pump into either the Medela bottles that come with the pump or regular 8oz bottles.  I use the Lansinoh storage bags for freezing.  Hope this helps!!

  • I still pump into the medela containers (5 oz, but you can fit 6.5 in there), and then transfer into the Lanisol bags just because they are bigger and I have a huge supply. I have used the Medela bags & Avent containers.  I have not had any leaking problems, except with the Avent containers.
  • I use a Medela Harmony Manual pump and the Lasinoh freezer double zip lock bags (and I LOVE them). I also use the Playtez Drop-ins

  • I have a Medela Pump in Style and I love it. I store the milk in Lasinoh freezer bags.
