What are some things that you fed your kids while they were recovering from tonsil/adenoid surgery? DS doesn't like oatmeal, but so far for soft foods I'm thinking of applesauce, pancakes, pb&J, yogurt, string cheese....but all of this is snack food.
Thanks!
Re: ? about what to feed ds after tonsil surgery
I had my tonsils out when I was 19 and there was no way that I could eat pancakes or string cheese.
I ate applesauce, soup, and tons of milkshakes.
Oh, and nothing red at all
The ENT told me that eating is not nearly as important as drinking is after a tonsillectomy. I made sure DD stayed full of juices, water, rice milk (okayed by the ped since it isn't dairy), and popsicles.
When she had food, it was jello, applesauce, chicken noodle soup (the canned kind because the noodles are way soft), and even some baby food.
Oh...and she's 3 1/2.
Honestly, DS didn't want to eat much at all, so I was happy to get anything down him. He basically wanted pudding. (This isn't a great idea the first couple of days because the dairy can be bad.) Later he ate some soup, and banana smoothies with protein powder thrown in.
When I had my tonsils out all I wanted was instant mashed potatoes with gravy. I liked the instant kind because my mom could make them really thin.
After a few days, I liked really soft scrambled eggs.
