We got 2" white wooden blinds from SelectBlinds.com, I think they were around $40/each, we had to have custom sizes. I also bought the window valances that came with our bedding, MiGi Blossom.
We have wooden blinds, but then put two 40" panels (I think) on each window. They're short enough that DS can't pull on them when he's playing in his room, but they cover the entire window. I would definitely recommend getting longer curtains, not just a valance, so that you can black out the room. They sell blackout curtains, or you can separately buy the blackout liners and attach them to your curtains, which is what we did because our curtains are white and couldn't find them in white. They are a must for afternoon naps!
I got cordless cellular shades this weekend at Lowe's. I think they were about $70/each. Then we'll use the valence that matches the crib bedding. We have the cellular shades in other areas of the house and find that it softens the light nicely.
