I was originally pretty worried about it and was told that we would watch for growth discrepancies between the girls, but so far so good! One is 4lbs 5oz and the other is 4lbs 4oz. GL!
I'm pregnant with twins in one placenta, but the babies are separated by a very thin membrane. Our boys haven't had any problems growth wise! But honestly I didn't know a single placenta posed additional risks.
I am too. I was really worried about twin-to-twin transfusion when we found out, but (knock on wood) we haven't had any issues with it thus far. At our 23 week u/s the girls were only 1 oz. different, and at our 26 week u/s they were measuring exactly the same!
I think its pretty common. My girls only had 1 placenta and had no issues. They were always the exact same size give an oz or 2. They were both 4lbs 8.5oz. Now 3 yrs later they still weigh the same as each other. When we go to the pedi whoever is weighed second the nurse doesnt have to adjust the scale. Its always been this way.
My dr did worry about T2T transfusion but just did u/s ever 2wks. They were also MoMo twins so he was worried about their cords getting tangled but that never happened either.
Mine shared a placenta and ended up having TTTS, but I had it late in my pregnancy and they caught it early. So everything worked out fine. They were delivered at 33 weeks at 4lbs 6oz and 2lbs 14oz. My boys are doing great and are a healthy 16lbs and 13lbs.
Mine do. ?We have mono/di twins, so they share a placenta but each have their own sac. ?However, their is very thin membrane between them and some u/s techs can't find it. ?They do an u/s every two weeks at my peri's office and always find the membrane and they are constantly checking for a growth discrepency. ?So far we are good. ?They also sent me to Stanford for a fetal echo and all looked good. ?Two weeks ago they were measuring 2 lbs. 9 oz., and 2 lbs. 5 oz. and that is the biggest difference we've had so far. ?The Peri was not concerned though and said that all is going well and that's not a bad difference. ?Hopefully it will stay that way! ?GL to you!
We have mono/di twins, and we ended up on the more stressful side of the statistics. They discovered likely TTTS at 14 weeks, and ended up needing to have surgery around 20 weeks. The girls still have a size discrepancy, but so far we are blessed that the surgery seems to be doing its job. It has been scary but our girls seem feisty!
My girls shared a placenta. They are identical!! They both did great (growth wise) throughout the entire pregnancy. When I was about 33 weeks pregnant the Dr. started to notice one had stopped growing and the other one was continuing to grow. He said that it is fairly common at the end and that we would keep our eye on it. Well the same thing continued for the next two weeks so he decided that the girls would thrive better outside than inside and I was induced at 36 weeks 2 days. Zoey was 4lbs 2oz and when she came out the Dr. said that her cord was very thin and deteriorated. Zahra was 5lbs 7oz. No NICU time and her cord was still strong so that is why she was starting outgrow ZoZo!

I did. We were diagnosed with TTTS at 20 wks & had laser surgery the same week. We lost one baby.
My symptoms of TTTS were that my belly grew very quickly and I got extremely uncomfortable due to the extra fluid (it was unbearable to sit down).
