bottle refusal

we started around 4 weeks trying to give DD a bottle and have tried many brands including but not limited to: playtex drop-ins with the laytex nipple, adiri, breastflow, avent, evenflow, drbrowns, and bornfree. i have tried warming up the nipple, trying different flow speeds, squeezing the breastmilk into her mouth via the playtex dropins, having me give it, having daddy give it, different holds, putting her in the carseat or bouncy chair. we were trying every other day for a few weeks and NOTHING. so for the last few weeks i have given up. i want to start trying again because eventually i am going to have to go somewhere without her for more than two hours. while i really cherish the bonding with her, mommy needs a break or a date night with DH and it would be nice to be able to leave her with grandma or her aunties for a few hours and not worry about getting a call because she seems to be getting hungry. i feel like i am going to have to do the battle of wills with her and just not give in until she takes it, which i really don't want to do but....i dont know. am i the only one in this boat??

Re: bottle refusal

  • Hang in there. Just keep trying. I bet it is frustrating but she will get it. My LO was terrible with bottles, and just started getting better around 3 months.

  • Wow, I could have written your post exactly!!!  I actually went out today and purchased the adiri bottle and of course, no luck!  My DD actually took the playtex drop-ins with the latex nipple twice (in one weekend) but then refused.  We were out of town that weekend and she took it for my mom and my husband-but as soon as we got home she refused!!  I too am at my wits end.  I feel bad because my husband tries while I go grocery shopping and she cries like he's ripping her arms off.  My DD has even gone as far as dry heaving and then throwing up (twice).  She is fine and happy after he gives in and just waits till I get home to eat.  She doesn't take a paci either, so I don't know what to do.  I wish I could be more help, but I'm just going to keep trying (it's already been about a month since we started)!  GL to you--let me know if you find something that works:)
  • I could have written this post myself EXACTLY!  Sorry, no help here.  I'll be following to see if there are any suggestions!
