It seems as though no mobile will fit our crib. I had given up, and then the other morning I woke up with an idea. We are not going to use the mobile plastic attachment bracket-- instead of putting the mobile on that, we are going to screw an i-hook into a stud above the bed. Then I took two metal loops and my husband (big fisherman) tied strong knots with fishing line to both loops (one at each end). We will then attach the actual mobile to that, so that it is suspended from the ceiling. The nice thing about this is that we may even be able to use it longer because we can adjust the height as baby grows. We haven't hung it yet- we are waiting to get our blinds and do all those little projects at once-- or else I would post a PIP. This might work for you too?
Ours was really tight, but DH was able to jam it on- and that thing is NOT going anywhere!!!. ?The whole area where he pushed is going to scratched badly when we remove it, but we have the protection plan on our furniture- and it will cover this- so we aren't worried.
I don't know what WILL work, but I can tell you what WON'T...
We got our mobile from PBK and I totally LOVE it, but it didn't fit our crib originally (the bracket was too narrow even though we have a classic shape, drop-side crib with rails that aren't too thick).
My dad ended up rigging it - he basically added an extension and a coupler to the bracket piece to get it to be big enough to fit our crib. In the end it works great, but was a big PITA.
Moral of the story, PBK mobiles have small/narrow brackets, so avoid them unless you have someone handy in your life who can modify it for you (which can be done).
I fell in love with our mobile (Cottontail Friends), so was determined to make it work.
I am going with some kind-of ceiling mobile/sculpture. I saw some yesterday at the baby store made by Lambs and Ivy and they were sooo cute. Since we are having a girl, the flower one and butterfly one were my favorite but also saw the airplane one and it was beautiful. Good Luck.
Since I made my own bedding I knew I wouldn't be able to find a mobile to match so I am making my own (yup, attempting a mobile today). Plus w/ the wide sides of our crib there was NO WAY a standard mobile was going to fit.
