Anyway, for you - Awesome! I think Walter is so dignified for a grown man and Walt is a great nn for any stage of life.
It's alright, much better than the trendy aiden type names but I also like Watson (Watts) for a W name....

My Dad's name is Wally (Wallace) and even in the '50s, Wally/Walter/Walt was an old man name. My Grandfather was also Wallace, but he was an old man.
I just think Lost. But, it does kinda go with those "Hank" type names.
I love it, personally. My hubby had a roomate in college named Walter who really wore it well. I'm for reviving many old-fashioned names, though.
I know you will get mixed reactions if you use it. That being said, I still think it's a nice choice.
