Is it safe to drink dry ice?!

My office just created a cool effect by putting dry ice in a punch bowl. I know it's just frozen carbon dioxide, but I'm not drinking it for fear I get a piece of that dry ice in my cup.

But then, I'm no scientist. Any advice is appreciated!

  • Dry ice does not melt, it sublimes directly to gaseous CO2.  Just don't swallow the cube, because it would be REALLY cold!
