Uppababy vista vs. Peg Perego strollers

Trying to make some of the big decisions early on...like which stroller to get. I've been reading the baby bargains book, and took a little field trip to BuyBuy Baby today. I must admit that the uppa baby vista is pretty slick, but I am trying to wrap my head around the price (we can afford it, but that doesn't mean we have to have it). Also looked at some of the peg perego strollers, but the nicer models P3 and the Switch seem bulky and are not that cheap either. I am quite torn and would appreciate your input ladies. FYI we will be going with either the peg perego viaggio or snug ride car seat, but that's another discussion :)

Re: Uppababy vista vs. Peg Perego strollers

  • I don't have an answer for you but wanted you to know that I am in the same boat. I love the uppababy vista and can afford it but based on what friends with small children have said not many of them are really worth the money. I'm interested to see what others have to say.

  • Hi I'm just lurking but thought I would reply and hopefully help you make your decision. We had the Bumbleride Flyer stroller and hated it and just recently got the Uppa baby vista and LOVE it! I never thought we would spend that much money on a stroller but after hating our previous one (which was close to $400) we realized you get what you pay for. We were looking for a stroller that handled well and was easy to fold up. We did look at the peg perego skate but it was sooo heavy! The uppa is really light and folds up really easy. Also you can switch the seat around so you can look at your lo. The basket underneath is also great, I put my baby bag in there and can also fit more items. You can add another seat for later on if you have a toddler and an infant and make it a double and it pushes so nice I can do it no problem with one hand while holding my dd. Hope that helps!
  • My friend just got the Uppa baby.  From what I can tell and have read, it's very much like my bugaboo so it would make it worth the money to me, because I love my stroller.

I think the Peg Skate is a good stroller, but the ones you mentioned are big, bulky, heavy, and a general pain in the butt, according to 2 people I know that have them, and a 3rd that loves her skate.  But the skate is just as much, if not more, than the uppa baby, if I remember correctly.  I could be wrong on that.

If you are going to spend $300-$400 on a Peg, you might as well go up a couple hundred and get the Uppa baby.  You can buy a standing board for it just like I did for my frog and make it into a double stroller for quick shopping trips, so you'll definitely get your money/use out of it.

  • We got an Uppa Baby Vista for LO.  And had a P3 for DD.  While the P3 was nice, after a lot of use it started to feel less sturdy.  It would shake from side to side like something needed to be tightened, but of course with strollers the frame comes assembled, so we didn't know what to tighten.

We haven't used the VIsta too much, just tested it a few times with DD.  So far we love it.  And the bassinet will be a nice plus.  The only draw back I've seen is it doesn't come with a cup holder, but you don't have to get the Uppa Baby one.  They sell plenty at BRU that will fit it.

If you are serious about the Vista I would do what we did.  Since the end of the year is approaching the smaller (non-nation wide or regional stores) will be trying to get rid of their '09s in order to make room in their store for '10s.

We went to a local boutique that carried more highend stuff then BRU and got great prices on a lot of stuff because they were the older model.  We saved $200 on the Vista and I got a Medela PIS for 1/2 price.  The only thing is that you might be limited on color for the stroller.

  • The UPPAbaby Vista is the stroller we're going with.  It outweighs the competitions 10-fold.

First of all, it's a stroller that can eventually be for two small kids (which is what we plan on).  Secondly, even if you have more of an age-gap and kid #2 is older, they have the attachable stand-up thing so the kid doesn't have to walk all the time.  The rumble seat is almost full-sized.

Second, unlike the Bugaboo, the basinett is a REAL bassinett with a full-size mattress and you can even buy a stand for it to use it in the house.  The bugaboo is merely a piece of attachable fabric to the frame.

Third, you don't have to take the whole stroller apart everytime you need to fold it up - with the bugaboo, you have to remove the frame before you fold it.  With the UPPA you only have to remove the bassinett, carseat or rumble seat before you fold it - not the regular seat or the carseat frame.

In my eyes, since UPPA is ultimately a two-kid stroller, there's NO competetion.

  • I have owned the Uppa Baby Vista for almost 1.5 years and it is awesome!  I will say that it is not light and it can be bulky to fit into the trunk of a smaller car.  Also, they claim that it is made for 2 babies, but if you look at youtube reviews of the rumble seat, it is not a very comfy ride for the baby seated in the bottom attachment.  We're still deciding what to do for a stroller for when Baby #2 comes along.
